Mai Adamu Mustapha, National Auditor

Mai Adamu Mustapha who hails from Yobe State was born on 25th October, 1956.

After his primary education, he attended Teachers College, Potiskum between 1972 to 1976 and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria for his National Certificate of Education (NEC) between 1977 to 1980.

This renowned teacher changed course in his academic career when he attended University of Maiduguri between 1984 to 1987 when he studied accountancy, graduating with B.Sc Account/Finance.

For his Post Graduate Education, Mai Mustapha attended the University of Birmingham, UK, between 1989 to 1991 for Post Graduate diploma of Finance and M.Sc Account/Finance.

For his working experience, he served as Teacher/Headmaster in Gadam Local Government Area between 1976 to 1977.

Adamu Mustapha subsequently served in various capacities in Borno State Civil Service between 1983 to 1989 as Education Officer, Revenue Officer and Director, Finance in the Borno State Ministry of Finance.

After the creation of Yobe State in 1991, he continued his service in Yobe Civil Service as Director of Finance, Yobe State Ministry of Finance, between 1991 to 1992, General Manager, Yobe Investment Ltd between 1992 to 1993.

He served briefly as Sole Administrator, Tarmuwa Local Government Area between 1993 to 1994.

Mai Mustapha was quite active in politics, taking time off from teaching to serve as Party Secretary of Great Nigeria People’s Party (GNPP) between 1981 to 1983.

He was also elected as the Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe State between 1998 to 1999.

He transferred his service to the Federal Ministry of Finance, where he served between 1999 to 2003.

Back to politics and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where he served as PDP National Ex-Officio member and PDP Deputy National Organizing Secretary between 2003 to 2012.

He was elected National Auditor in the December 2017 National Convention.

He is married with children.
