National Financial Secretary
Elder Bolaji Akpan Anani is an indigene of Ediba Abi Local Government in Cross River State.
Born in 1953, young Anani attended St. Paul Primary School, Balsara, in Ogoja local government between 1959 and 1964. He started his secondary education at Government Secondary School Afibo, Ebonyi State, in 1967 but had to stop due to the Nigerian civil war. He was later admitted into Community Secondary Grammar School, Ugeb, Cross River, in 1970 and graduated in 1974.
Bolaji Anani is a biochemistry graduate of University of Nigeria, Nsuka, where he bagged a BS.C degree in 1978. After his mandatory one year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Gongola State, he joined Scripture Union Nigeria in 1979 as Travelling Secretary. He was with that organization up to 1985 when he decided to join politics.
Elder Anani ventured into politics during the zero party days of General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida in 1987 and was elected councilor in his local government in 1988. When Babangida regime formed two political parties for the nation, National Republican Convention (NRC) and Social Democratic Party (SDP), Anani joined the NRC. He was in NRC up to the time of the collapse of that experiment. During the Abacha years, he joined National Centre Party of Nigeria (NCPN).
In 1996, Elder Anani was again elected, under zero party system, chairman of his Ediba Abi Local Government in Cross River State. He joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 1998.
Among other positions he held, Elder Anani was:
*Commissioner, Cross River Local Government Service Commission, 1997 – 2003.
*Resident Electoral Commissioner, Cross River, 2003 – 2006
*Member, Revenue Mobilization & Physical Allocation Commission, 2009 – 2010.
He was elected National Financial Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in March 2012.
